It is the long history of humankind (and animal kind, too) that those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed.

This week was a nice week. 16 books is a good haul these days.. most of them I've been anticipating. So far there's been some good stuff cooking from Marvel and DC as of late. DC's Absolute Power has been a monster, along with Marvel's Venom War. As for book of the week, it was no contest...
Comic Book of The Week:
The Ultimates #4
Camp / Noto
....
This issue, we get the tragic backstory on Ultimates member Doctor Doom, who is this universe's Reed Richards. Camp give us an interesting narrative, deconstructing Reed "Doom" Richard using time jumps three periods running in parallel. In the present, we get Iron Lad confronting Doom about his absence from fighting alongside the team. Another time chronicles the lead-up to Reed's attempt to create this universe's Fantastic Four, which ended in the tragedy of the deaths of Sue, Johnny and Ben. And the third showing The Maker, the original Ultimate Universe's Reed Richards, revealing it was he to threw a monkey wrench into the creation of the FF.
The whole book is heartbreaking, showing why Doom joined the Utlimates... whether it's out of revenge, or the possibility of reversing with The Maker did to this universe. There are…

No. It's not a game. This is the world. It is not the one we were supposed to have, but it's the one we made. We did this. We did it with open eyes and willing hands. We broke it, and there is no putting it back together. But I'm damned already... so at least I'm going to try.

I love Starfield. I've played every damn day since the game was released a year ago today. I'll admit there were some issues and shortfalls during that time. Bugs, lack of content, and limitations to a lot of the promised gameplay turned more than a few players off, which caused the game's overall score to dramatically drop. But that didn't matter to me. I got the same enjoyment out of Starfield that I had gotten from Bethesda's previous games from the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series. After a year, Bethesda has done well updating the game... even adding the much-request vehicle for traversing planets. But still, the main complaint seems to be the lack of content. I even have to admit that after starting over a dozen new playthroughs... even with additional content, it's getting pretty tiresome.
Releasing Starfield's version of the Creation Kit seems to be the best solution. A lot of modders have been creating great content to add additional value for playthroughs (even after a lot of them thought it would be impossible to do so, with the way the game was created). In the time the Creation Kit was released, there have been more than a few…

This week was dominated by Venom and Absolute Power comics. But my pick of the week came out of nowhere, with a cross-IP book that I would've just skirted by... if it wasn't created by the Secret Wars combo of Hickman and Ribić! Of course i'm talking about...
Comic Book of The Week:
Aliens vs. Avengers #1
Hickman / Ribić
Real talk... normally, I see these 'cross-property' comics and just skip past them. I'm a suck for comic continuity, so when i see these 'elseworlds' stories that have no influence on the main Marvel 616 timeline, I perceive them to have no importance so i don't read them. But first seeing the stunning cover by Esad Ribić and them gazing up to the left corner and seeing the name of Jonathan Hickman, I immediately got those chills from my first read-through of 2015's Secret Wars. So, i had to pick it up. Still, my expectations were low. But what i preceded to read was the start of what could be an epic story with major ramifications.
I the near futures, some rogue Wayan Corporation Androids were running secret experiments with Xenomorph eggs, infecting beings and sending the infected to unsuspecting planets. The Wakandans…

Germany has spent the decades since World War II in national penance for Nazi crimes. America spent the decades after the Civil War transforming Confederate crimes into virtues. It is illegal to fly the Nazi flag in Germany. The Confederate flag is enmeshed in the state flag of Mississippi.
