With Drill and Trap music the dominant forms of rap music currently, it takes a little work to dig beneath the surface and find golden gems that represent the Boom Bap era. The Hip Hop 50 series will have multiple volumes, each being produced by a different iconic producer.
Who else could be the franchise starter than DJ Premier. Bringing together some lyrical legends for his 5-episode opus (Nas, Run The Jewels, Remy Ma, Rhapsody, Lil Wayne, Joey Bada$$, and Slick Rick) onto of classic Boom Bap beats. Premo is the perfect producer to set this off. This is one of my favorite albums of 2022.
