Comic Book Pull List for April 24th

This week's pull list overflows with Spider-Man and X-Men delights—right in my wheelhouse. The Marvel universe dominates, and naturally, Avengers #13 was my immediate choice. However, the culmination of the Orchis War, though promising, faltered at the finish line, leaving a sour taste with its lackluster conclusion that fizzled out like a spent firework. Yet, amid this disappointment, a beacon of hope emerged. My pick for the week shone as brightly as ever, maintaining its consistent quality and delivering the satisfaction I've come to expect. In the tapestry of comic book adventures, there are peaks and valleys, but there's always…

Comic Book Pull List for April 17th

This week, we have an all-Marvel pull list... most of them being Spider-comics. Throw in the very enjoyable Black Widow/Hawkeye and Ultimate Black Panther and we have a nice, quick reading list for this week. But book 5 of Avengers: Twilight dropped, so you know it has to be book of the week! Comic Book of The Week: Avengers: Twilight #5 by Zdarsky / Acuña The highlight of this week's comic selection boiled down to a tough choice between the second installment of The Spectacular Spider-men and the penultimate chapter of Avengers Twilight. As soon as I delved into the pages of Avengers Twilight,…

My 10 Favorite X-Men Storylines From The Comics

Before Brian Michael Bendis showed me the awesomeness of his New Avengers lineup in 2004, my ride-or-die Marvel team was The X-Men. I’d been an avid reader of their comics since I rediscovered them in the mid-90s. Other team books didn’t have the outrageous plotlines and inner-team soap opera drama. And their rogues gallery was second to none. Recently, with the state of comics not being in a great place, I’ve been going back and revisiting a lot of X-Men comics and am amazed that the stories still have a great impact… even on my 2nd and 3rd read-thoughts. Want to…

Comic Book Pull List for April 10th, 2024

This week, we got a nice crop of X-Men comics, leading with Weapon X-Men and the 2nd issue of the divisive Ultimate X-Men. I picked up the Image Comics Spawn-adjacent #1, Rat City. And a couple of Batman comics to round out the pull list. Of course, the new Invincible Iron Man comic came out so it's my pick of the week. Comic Book of The Week: Invincible Iron Man #17 by Duggen / Zircher Even though The Orchis War has been an X-Men/mutant thing, I have to say my favorite war coverage has been inside of the Avengers tie-ins, preferably in Jed MacKay's Avengers, and Gerry…

Comic Book Pull List for April 3rd, 2024

This was a good week for the pull list. Batman's "Dark Prisons" storylines have been pretty enjoyable. We got a new Deadpool #1 from Cody Ziglar. I picked up some cool indie issues (the latest issue of Killadelphia, Void Rivals, and the new witch-themed Under York). And even though the X-Men are finally taking their war to Orchis in the latest issue, the real scorcher in "Fall of The House of X" is coming from the comic of the week...  Comic Book of The Week: The Avengers #12 by MacKay / Mortarino I have really enjoyed Jed MacKay's run on Avengers…

Comic Book Pull List: March 13th, 2024

The week was a small list. But nearly all of the issues were enjoyable. The new Black Widow/Hawkeye limited series has started with a bang.. plus it's good to see Natasha still sporting the red and black symbiote. Another great issue of Ultimate Black Panther amps up the fight against the terrorist organization known as Moon Knight. Duggan drops the third issue of "Fall of The House of X" and Wolverine continues the Sabertooth War. But of course... How can Chip Zdarsky drop another issue of Avengers Twilight and it not be my pick of the week? Comic Book of The…

Comic Book Pull List: March 6th, 2024

This is a good week for my pull list. We got my highly anticipated next issue of MacKay's Avengers (with his free "Blood Hunt" preview), Ultimate X-Men, the next book from Hickman's rebooted Ultimate Universe, a Giant-sized Spider-Gwen, and more. But how could anything else be my number 1, when the ONE BOOK I've seen asking for, for years has finally come to pass... Comic Book of The Week: The Spectacular Spider-Men #1 Weisman / Ramos I'm not gonna lie.. when I found out they were finally making this book, I was super stoked. If you read the preview Spider Team up…

Comic Book Pull List February 27th, 2024

Marvel's finally putting in work on the comic book side... at least in my opinion. 'The Sabertooth War' continues in the pages of Wolverine. The Amazing Spider-Man works to wrap up 'Gang War'. And I finally got 2 Batman reads that I enjoyed. But of course, Acuña and Zdarsky dropped the 3rd issue of Avengers: Twilight. So it has to be the comic book of the week. Comic Book of The Week: Avengers: Twilight #3 Zdarsky / Acuña What else can I say about this limited series? Somehow Chip Zdarsky is a pro at writing compelling stories about lone heroes fighting against…

Comic Book Pull List for February 21st, 2024

A pretty decent pull list this week. In a couple of Hickman comics, the street-level Marvel heroes continue in the 'Gang War' event, Batman continues with the interesting 'Joker: Year One', and more quality X-books are available. And speaking of Hickman, I can't believe how his take on Ultimate Spider-Man has been flying under my radar. So I finally got to read the first issue and it hooked me. To be honest, the entire Hickman reboot of the Ultimate Universe has been great from the start. So can my of the week not be... Comic Book of The Week: Ultimate Spider-man #2…
