Comic Book Pull List: Jan 31st, 2024

This week was pretty good.. even if short on issues. "Wolverine's 'Sabertooth War'" picked up steam, "Dead X-Men" debuted with the surprise return of some deceased favorites, the final issue of Al Ewing's "Avengers, Inc." dropped with a somewhat satisfying end, and I picked up a few trades I'd been looking at for a while from "Batman", "Sabertooth" and "Blade". But the pick of the week has to still be Chip Zdarsky's 'Elseworlds' story of Captain America fighting back at a future fascist America in "Avengers Twilight #2"

Comic Book Pull List: January 24th, 2024

Very little to work with this week.. a new issue of Detective Comics, another 'Gang War' tie-in and another issue of Hickman's G.O.D.S. limited series. This week being a slow week, I decided to pick up a few trade paperbacks of older comic runs I enjoyed. Being partial of X-comics, I grabbed two of their better reads. One was X-Force: Assault of Greymalkin, featuring Cable when he was a red-hot character. And the other is my pick of the week...

Comic Book Pull List: January 18th, 2024

With each week of the new year, the quality of comics seems to be slowly building up. We got movement for both the "Gang War" and "Fall of The House of X" events, and the 3rs issue of the surprisingly good "ALIEN" comic from Marvel. But of course, how can Cbip Zdarsky and Daniel Acuña release an Avengers event comic and it not take the number one spot? Comic of The Week: Avengers: Twilight #1 Take the Avengers, destroy them, and build a dystopian future with the dream of freedom that has gone wrong. That's right! Yet another future tale of The…

Comic Book Pull List: January 10th, 2024

Marvel's street-level Gang War continues with 3 more tie-ins. The mutant Fall of The House of X storyline brought you the "That Fall" last week,q and now continues with The Rise of The Power of X. A new volume of Ultimate Spider-man launches a new number one. And Wolverine kicks off The Sabertooth War. But my pick of the week goes to what's possibly my favorite book out right now: Comic Book of The Week: The Avengers #9 This week, we get the third installment of Twilight Dreaming as we kick off round two of The Avengers' battle with The Twilight Court. I can't put my finger…

From the highs of Krakoa—their own glorious nation, a place where they were safe and happy—to the lowest of lows. Comic Pull List: December 27th, 2023

Here we are in the last week of 2023. And as usual, there's not much to look forward to this week. The one standout is the annual "Timeless" comic from Marvel that gives us a glimpse into the future of Marvel Comics for 2024. Comic Book of The Week: Timeless 2023 #1 This year's issue focuses on Luke Cage vs. Moon Knight with some glimpses into other future. Written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, art by Juann Cabal. I hope this is the direction for both of these characters because they both look pretty cool. All in all, this year's crop of…

Comic Pull List: December 20th, 2023

The week leading up to Christmas was as slow as expected. As usual, The "Gang War" and "FAll of X" storylines are dominated by pull lists. Hickman's "G.O.D.S." book dropped another issue and a few more Spider comics. And while all of these books were ok, I must admit that my best read from this list has to be the collected 4 volumes of Brian Michael Bendis' "Powers". Comic Book of The Week: Powers Collection Vol. 1–4 I first read Powers when I got through the first volume of Bendis' run on Marvel's New Avengers. After going back and reading his Daredevil, and…

Comic Pull List: December 13th, 2023

As expected, this week's pull list was pretty weak. We had a few 'Fall of X' titles, Moon Knight meets his ends, another interesting issue of the new Outsiders, and Marvel's street-level heroes continued the 'Gang War'. The list as a whole was pretty 'mid', but if I had to pick one book from the bunch, It would be: Comic of The Week: Miles Morales: Spider-man #13 To be honest, I've been enjoying this "Gang War" story more than I expected to. I always enjoy it when we focus on heroes on the street. In this issue, Peter Parker's strike team to…
