Comic Book Pull List: January 24th, 2024

Very little to work with this week.. a new issue of Detective Comics, another ‘Gang War’ tie-in and another issue of Hickman’s G.O.D.S. limited series. This week being a slow week, I decided to pick up a few trade paperbacks of older comic runs I enjoyed. Being partial of X-comics, I grabbed two of their better reads. One was X-Force: Assault of Greymalkin, featuring Cable when he was a red-hot character. And the other is my pick of the week…

Comic Book of The Week:
X-Men: Battle of The Atom (Trade)

I know I’ve said to it possibly a thousand times, but Brian Michael Bendis is arguably my favorite comic book writer. He switches place with Jonathan Hickman from time to time, but he’s at the top of the list. HIs run at Marvel was a prime era of comic reading for me. He’s one of the few writers I revisit frequently. His run on All-New X-Men.. were he brought back the original X-Men to the present to show modern-day Cyclops how far he had strayed form the mission. This entire run divided the x-community. Frankly I loved it. And one other coolest stories was Battle of the Atom.

The story was simple: Three sets of X-Men from 3 different time periods fight over send the original X-Men back to their original time. Bendis (along with Jason Aaron, Brian Wood and others) does a great job of making this an epic battle field with a lot of easter eggs from across the X-universe. Some of the future X-Men I was hoping would stick around.

Brian Michael Bendis’ X-Men: Battle of the Atom is a gripping crossover event that unfolds with dynamic storytelling and stunning artwork. The narrative weaves through time, bringing together past, present, and future X-Men in a battle for the ages. The character development is rich, exploring the complexities of mutant relationships and the consequences of time travel. Bendis masterfully balances action with emotional depth, creating a compelling read for both longtime fans and newcomers. The intricate plot twists and unexpected alliances keep readers on the edge, making X-Men: Battle of the Atom a must-read for any comic enthusiast.
